The right to security in conflict & emergencies

Whether created by a natural disaster -drought, floods, earthquake of famine- or by a violent conflict, an emergency causes intense suffering, trauma and loss. ActionAid works in emergency situations providing immediate relief and setting up long-term projects that help  communities rebuild their lives and reduce their vulnerability to future disasters and conflicts.

Emergencies alert system
ActionAid’s emergency alert system tracks the signs that precede an emergency - enabling us to prepare our responses more effectively.

Burma (Myanmar) cyclone
A devastating cyclone ripped across Burma bringing 120 mph winds, torrential rain, flooding and a sea surge that swept inland. ActionAid is working in the affected areas.

Emergencies and violent conflict are not one-off events so we promote change to ensure that people’s rights are not undermined by emergencies and conflict.
