Education is one of the best ways for people to lift themselves out of poverty, and a powerful weapon in the fight against AIDS. However, 72 million children in the world’s poorest countries – 57% of them girls – are denied a primary education.
The right to education
Education is a universal human right and, by unlocking other rights, it is the key that enables people to overcome poverty.
Our approach
ActionAid still meets immediate needs for education, much of our work has shifted to addressing people's rights.
