At the end of 2005, a team from ActionAid UK headed out to Brazil. The team consisted of a researcher, a logistician, a photographer, a videographer and a stuffed toy bear - Barnaby
Since 2004, Barnaby Bear has been opening children’s eyes to life in developing countries and the work that ActionAid does.
Barnaby’s most recent travels took him deep into the Amazon rainforest. He experienced the beauty of the forest and investigated how this is being threatened by deforestation.
However the highlight of Barnaby’s trip was a visit to an ActionAid partnership project called CEACC (Research Centre for Cultural Action and Citizenship) in the City of God.
CEACC are worried about the increasing influence of drug gangs on young people in the area, and the community's poor access to basic services. They provide activities children and teenagers.
