In a week's time we will be celebrating International Women’s Day. But before the celebrations there’s some work to be done and some fantastic blogs to be read.
This week, the 54th UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) meets in New York and will be reviewing the Beijing Platform for Action 15 years on. Simply put, the Beijing Platform is the document setting out a global agenda for women’s empowerment.
The great and the good will be descending on the Big Apple from around the world including representatives from governments, the UN, NGOs and activists to celebrate how far we have come and discuss what more needs to be done (there's a lot!).
I’m keeping this post short because there are so many more amazing blogs from feminist academics, activists and commentators around the CSW for you to read. Check out the fantastic blogs by our Women’s Rights Advisor Zohra Moosa, who will be blogging from New York all this week, and ActionAid trustee Jane Esuantsiwa Goldsmith, who has first-hand experience of the Beijing Conference.
