ActionAid's alternative wedding list

By giving in unity to ActionAid you will ensure that the happiest day of your life can become a window of hope for thousands of the world’s poorest people.

Your wedding donations will provide safe water, food security, healthcare and education to some of the poorest and most vulnerable people in the world.

Here are some examples of how much difference your wedding could make with our alternative wedding list:

  • A cookery book that costs £15 could provide five children in Afghanistan with enough textbooks for one term
  • An iron that costs £25 could train a child in Afghanistan to become a tailor
  • A kettle that costs £40 could provide a hand pump for a well in Sierra Leone, providing six people with clean water for life
  • A dinner set that costs £75 could provide 14 AIDS orphans in Malawi with nutritious porridge for one year – sometimes the only guaranteed food they receive
  • A set of coffee table books that cost £125 could supply a whole class of students with all of their learning materials for one year in Ethiopia
  • A chocolate fountain that costs £200 could buy 3,200 cocoa tree seedlings for a poor farmer in Guatemala.
