For generations, three tribal groups have lived in the lush forests of Niyamgiri mountain, Orissa, foraging in the forests for fruits and flowers that are used as food, drink and medicine.
Now their future is increasingly under threat because a combined mining and refinery project is being developed in the heart of their ancestral land by Vedanta's subsidiary, Sterlite Industries India Ltd.
In response, villagers from the surrounding area have been protesting and are gaining support locally, nationally and internationally.
