Hear from a few of our previous ActionAid People's Lottery winners
Val Davies, United Kingdom
"I was absolutely delighted to receive £1,092 in the post one Saturday morning! The letter announcing my win was totally unexpected and was so gratefully received.
"I have given some of my winnings to my children, a friend and treated myself. The rest of the money is in my account and I will spend it carefully. Thank you very much Action Aid, I am extremely grateful."
Olivier, Uganda
Olivier is a young mother who does her best to care for her children. But whenever any member of the family falls ill, they are in great danger. That's because the nearest health centre is an eight-hour walk away.
Thankfully, when you play the ActionAid people's lottery, you'll help support vital projects that benefit many families in need. For example, Olivier's community in Griki village, eastern Uganda, now has plans for a new health centre to be built.
David Yeo, United Kingdom
“Thank you so much for the cheque and letter informing me I was the ActionAid People's Lottery first prize winner. What a lovely surprise. I will put it to good use. Thanks again.”
Teneh, Sierra Leone
Teneh Sisay is six years old and lives in Sierra Leone. Her parents are farmers who grow crops to eat and sell. However, with increasingly erratic rains a good harvest is rare, and the family is struggling to survive. With your help we can work with their community to ensure that they have a secure source of water to grow food, even during a drought.
And that means that Teneh's parents can afford to send their daughter to school.
The draw gets done every week by a lady called Alison in our Supporter Care office. When she's really busy, the timing may not be spot on - but we'll always let you know the results as soon as they're ready.
The People's Lottery works exactly how you'd expect!
