Douglas Alexander gives us his heart

Has Douglas Alexander finally given his heart? With DFID’s new HIV and AIDS strategy just released, women need some reassurance...

Dear ActionAid
Last December, I fell for a guy named Doug. All this time it’s seemed like he knows exactly what women want. I really thought he was the one. Then the other day, Doug asked me to come and hear him speak at the launch of his new strategy on HIV and AIDS - a subject close to my heart.
Great, I thought, a chance to get to know the working Doug, and to find out what he really cares about. But there’s just one niggly little thing. While he definitely talks my language, I just don’t know if Doug’s heart’s in it.
He said amazing things, like "violence against women and girls significantly increases their risk of HIV infection," but no mention of what he plans to do about it. How can I make him keep his word?
Please help ActionAid! Is he the type to string a girl along? Am I wrong to put all my trust in him?

Yours,
An Invisible Woman

ActionAid says,
Clearly Doug’s words have pushed all the right buttons; he just needs to take the plunge and put them into action. If you ask me he’s the right guy – he’s just a bit commitment shy! Talk to Doug, and ask him to think carefully about how he’s going to deliver on his promises. Or better still, if he has a female friend you trust why not ask her to step in discretely? You have nothing to lose!

Email Gillian Merron, recently appointed DFID Minister and close advisor to Douglas Alexander. She can persuade Douglas to prove his commitment by backing up the strategy with a plan of action.
