The ActionAid 2008 Trustees' report and accounts detail where the money we spend comes from, how we spend it and most importantly how, with your help, we are progressing in eradicating global poverty and achieving equal rights for everyone.

2008 was a strong campaigning year where we were able to raise public awareness and influence government policy and thinking. As part of our Who Pays? campaign, 10,000 supporters took action, and we got the support of over 400 MEPs. The EC is now considering an EU-wide investigation into supermarkets’ dominance in food production.

We have strengthened our media and communications work and believe we were the first aid agency to use own equipment in a live media broadcast for an emergency report live, as Peter Murphy and Anjali Kwatra broadcast from DR Congo. The revamped website has included live online coverage of a number of UK events.

We have found innovative ways to diversify our income, including the gala fundraising event Call My Wine Bluff.
