The ActionAid 2007 Trustees' report and accounts detail where the money we spend comes from, how we spend it and most importantly how, with your help, we are progressing in eradicating global poverty and achieving equal rights for everyone.
2007 was a year of big achievements. We were recognised as an established leader in the field disaster risk reduction with a certificate of distinction from the United Nations. We were also there, providing relief and long term support, in a number of emergencies, including floods in Asia and Africa, and cyclone Sidr in Bangladesh.
We saw the highest ever response to a UK campaign with 34,000 people taking action in our supermarkets campaign and we recruited 3900 new campaigners.
We continued to raise almost £68 million in the UK and increased the number of active committed supporters to over 175,000.
We broke the £2 million mark for event fundraising, and were inspired by the very successful fundraising drive initiated by a group of ActionAid supporters, Vicky's water project, for work in Ethiopia.
We could not have achieved the progress we have worldwide without the hardwork of our staff and partners, or the support and solidarity of our supporters, sponsors, volunteers and donors.
