How your money can help

In Nsanje district in southern Malawi, communities are particularly vulnerable to the impact of climate change.

Flooding in southern Malawi is becoming more frequent and severe, damaging school buildings, destroying roads and bridges, and washing away crops. As a result, classes are often cancelled, the journey to school is unsafe, and children are too hungry to concentrate in class.

This is preventing children from attending school and from getting the education they need to lift themselves out of poverty.

Sukulu Malawi! aims to stop this and this is where we need your help.

By signing up to Sukulu Malawi! and raising funds at your school we can strengthen school buildings, provide students with reliable food and water supplies, and help them and their families learn about Malawi’s changing climate so they can protect themselves for the future.

  • Just £15 could provide a school desk for one child
  • £100 could provide a school of 1,000 pupils with a guaranteed meal of nutritious porridge for one week – sometimes the only guaranteed food they receive.
  • £1,000 could establish tree nurseries alongside riverbanks for one school. These will absorb excess water, reducing the likelihood of flooding.
