So we had a thought. What if we didn't ask people to push their round selves into any square holes? What if we asked people to fight poverty in their own way? After all, the more people get involved, the louder our voices. Before long we had people putting on gigs, making art, even breaking world records, all in the name of Bollocks to Poverty.

And it's not just events, there are plenty of things you do every day which can help us - from shopping, to surfing the internet, and maybe some things you've always wanted to do - like skydiving, running a marathon or helping on a development project abroad.

The idea is simple. Do something you love; help fight poverty.

Turn your student union upside down and organise a YAD to remember.

This is your chance to host a unique event in your union: The Bollocks to Poverty YAD.

You’ll be helping ActionAid fight global poverty by competing with other student unions to put on the best YAD, and two lucky students from the winning union will get to experience how the money they raise is spent in South Africa.

Our YAD event pack has been designed exclusively for student unions with busy Event Managers in mind, is completely free, and comes with activity ideas as well as resources like posters, banners and projections for your venue, freebies for the event and fundraising support for your students.
