ActionAid and ACCORD are offering the opportunity for two UK teachers to volunteer for six months teaching in the southern Indian village of Chembakolli.

Starting from September2011 or April 2012, this placement is a fantastic opportunity for teachers from the UK to live, learn and teach alongside inspirational Adivasi tribal communities.

Successful applicants will:

  • volunteer for six months at the Vidyodaya School
  • teach a range of subjects to the local pupils aged from seven to fourteen
  • blog about their experience on a weekly basis for the ActionAid website

The position is open to anyone with over two years teaching experience with a PGCE or equivalent qualification.

It is voluntary although travel expenses and accommodation will be covered, in addition to a local living allowance.
