Help us bridge the gap!

02 October 2009

Those who did the least to create this crisis are the ones who are suffering most.

Women and children in developing countries will suffer most during the current financial crisis.  As the recession deepens, inflation, loss of jobs and the drop in the pound are, for millions of people, not a matter of abstract economics but a matter of survival.

ActionAid's appeal

The situation is now urgent! In the next few weeks we have to finalise our plans for next year and decide what we can and can’t do.

  • Despite the fantastic support ActionAid is receiving, our income is down.
  • There are 5,000 children for whom we have not found sponsors this year.
  • The fall in the value of the pound means we need to raise more money just to keep doing the same thing.
  • We NEED an additional £558,000 or we will be forced to cut back on some of our direct work  with communities.

Donate now and help keep children like Yorng Saman safe

Fanta - sponsored child

Fanta’s the kind of child who keeps smiling, even though she’s told us she’s often hungry.

Sometimes she only gets one meal of rice and pawpaw a day. But she doesn’t want to worry her dad by telling him.

Instead, Fanta studies hard at school. Fanta knows she is lucky to go to school and still smiles when she says she hopes to be a nurse.
