Jane Moyo
Head of Media Relations

Jane Moyo oversees media relations for all ActionAid's campaigns, which currently include women's rights, HungerFREE, biofuels and child sponsorship amongst others.

Jane joined ActionAid in 1997. With a degree in economics and a background at the British Council, she originally specialised in fundraising PR, before moving into emergencies and media advocacy around HIV and AIDS.

Jane has run the media team since the beginning of 2006. During this time she has set up news and PR units and helped make greater inroads into television, with the appointment of a specialist broadcast journalist to widen ActionAid’s reach and support.

Head of News

Anjali Kwatra leads ActionAid’s HungerFREE campaign.

Anjali has worked extensively in national and international press for publications including The Express, The Guardian, Press Association and AOL. She spent three years as South Asia Editor for Agence France-Press, based in Delhi, and has also worked for Christian Aid.

Susan Mearns, Celebrity Coordinator

Susan Mearns

Celebrity Coordinator

Susan Mearns works on any and every campaign requiring celebrity input. These currently include women's rights, HungerFREE, Povertee Day, child sponsorship and events such as Call my wine bluff.

Susan worked in PR in Scotland before joining the ActionAid press office in 1995.

Asha Tharoor

Asha Tharoor
Senior Media Officer (Policy and Campaign)

Asha Tharoor works on campaigns relating to aid, the recession crisis appeal and the G20 and G8 summits. Asha also works across women's rights, the Vedanta campaign, Competition Commission and IFIs.

Asha comes from a journalistic, charity and government press officer background. She joined the ActionAid news team in 2007, and has worked across most policy and campaigns since.

Stuart Fowkes Stuart Fowkes
PR Manager

Stuart manages ActionAid’s full range of PR activities, including child sponsorship, fundraising, events, music and support to humanitarian emergencies, campaigns media and women's rights.

 

He previously worked as senior PR manager and digital press officer at Oxfam, managing the PR across its Trading and Supporter Marketing divisions. Prior to that his background is in PR agencies.

Leslie Sinoway Leslie Sinoway
PR Officer

Leslie works across all of ActionAid’s campaigns. These currently include Bollocks to Povertywomen's rights, HungerFREE, PoverTee Day, child sponsorship and events such as Call my wine bluff.

 

Leslie has worked extensively in magazine publishing, but specialised in the youth press. She edited two young women’s magazines – Mizz and Bliss - and is currently an online agony aunt for MyBliss. She has also been a youth consultant working with NGOs such as TimeBank and KidsCompany.
