Fundraising ideas

From taking part in a local coffee morning to climbing a mountain, there are thousands of inventive ways - big and small - to raise funds for projects around the world.

Here are a few ideas to get you started:

  • Lights out! Hold a sponsored sleep out (after obtaining permission from the council).
  • Go under canvas Live in a tent for a week without your favourite creature comforts!
  • Get creative Set up a stall selling items made out of recycled materials.
  • Take to the streets Run a magical mystery tour along your neighbourhood streets and share some fascinating local facts.
  • Mine’s biggest Hold a competition to see who can grow the tallest sunflower.   
  • Bargain hunt Offer to do some gardening for friends or family – for a price.  
  • Hold a cake bake with a difference Give your event a theme and judge entries before the sale. 
  • Make waves Organise a sponsored swim.
  • Get carrying Do a sponsored water carry to understand what it is like to walk for water.
  • Find the answer Hold a quiz or treasure hunt.
  • Do the write thing Run a poetry or short story competition.
  • On your marks Organise a team games day for adults and kids alike.
  • Get creative Run a themed children’s art competition and charge per entry. 
  • Turn the tables Let your pupils set a quiz for teachers on world events.
