What’s wrong with increasing UK biofuel consumption?

European biofuel consumption targets alone could drive another 100 million people into hunger by 2020.

The Government must support genuine solutions to climate change if we’re to avert the worst affects and avoid creating a global tragedy by pushing millions more into hunger.

Early Day Motion 828 (a petition for MPs to sign) has been created, urging the Government not to include targets or funding for biofuels in the Renewable Energy National Action Plan, which is due to be submitted to the European Union in June 2010.

Act now – and stop an increase in global hunger

In order to stop an increase in the UK’s biofuels consumption, MPs must sign up to EDM 828, ask questions in parliament and make the UK’s increased use of industrial biofuels into an issue which the Government cannot ignore.
