For children like Enid, who lives in a rural community in remote western Uganda, life is difficult. Her family's most valuable possession is a small herd of cows. The cow's milk is often their only source of food so every family member must help to look after the livestock - including five year old Enid. She regularly has to miss school to wash, cook and clean whilst her parents graze the cattle. But Enid still has hope - that one day she'll be able to make her mark on her community by becoming a teacher. But without an education her chances of escaping poverty and helping her community are slim.
Having you as a sponsor in their life means children like Enid can look to the future with hope. As a sponsor your support could help bring clean water to a child's community, help children access an education, and their parents to improve their livelihood. Because although you sponsor just one child the money you give helps a whole community.
Make your mark on a child's world today by giving just 50p a day and becoming an ActionAid child sponsor.

After 10 years as an ActionAid child sponsor, Chris Evans decided to visit Narok, and meet Makoi, the child she knew so well from her letters. Watch the video of the trip that inspired her to do even more for the village, raising money for the school library where Makoi and Siana study.
ActionAid child sponsorship is the start of an incredible one-to-one relationship between you and child in the developing world.
"Sponsoring a child is amazing - it isn't just giving money. I get such a lot of satisfaction from the experience because it's so much more personal. You really get to see the difference that you make. And I have become emotionally attached to the children I've sponsored over the years." Gillian Pope

Child sponsorship is a wonderful way to bring hope and change to a child living in poverty. Just 50p a day through ActionAid child sponsorship could bring a child an education, and help their whole community access safe clean water, nourishing food and the opportunities they need to change their future, for good. And amazingly, by sponsoring a child you could make this difference today
How does sponsorship work?
As a child sponsor you'll have a unique connection with a child. But to ensure that your donation is spent as effectively as possible, child sponsorship funds work in the community where your sponsored child lives. So you help not only the child you are sponsoring but also those who are closest to them - their friends and family.
