"Sponsoring a child is amazing - it isn't just giving money. I get such a lot of satisfaction from the experience because it's so much more personal. You really get to see the difference that you make. And I have become emotionally attached to the children I've sponsored over the years." Gillian Pope

Child sponsorship is a wonderful way to bring hope and change to a child living in poverty. Just 50p a day through ActionAid child sponsorship could bring a child an education, and help their whole community access safe clean water, nourishing food and the opportunities they need to change their future, for good. And amazingly, by sponsoring a child you could make this difference today
How does sponsorship work?
As a child sponsor you'll have a unique connection with a child. But to ensure that your donation is spent as effectively as possible, child sponsorship funds work in the community where your sponsored child lives. So you help not only the child you are sponsoring but also those who are closest to them - their friends and family.

Ten-year-old Abello comes from a small village in northern Malawi. He lives with his parents and siblings in a tiny house. Drought has ravaged what little land they have, and like most families in the area, they've often been unable to grow enough food to feed themselves.
Today Abello and his family have fresh hope.
Abello's family and community are tackling hunger and poverty with the support of ActionAid - and a man from Stourbridge. A man called Richard.
As an ActionAid child sponsor, Richard is helping Abello and his community to escape poverty. His support is helping Abello's family and neighbours to grow enough food to feed their families and improving education opportunities by increasing the number of teachers at Abello's school.
And that's only the start. With Richard on his side, Abello and his whole community really are on a journey to a better future.
Thousands of children like Abello are in urgent need of the chances in life ActionAid child sponsorship can give them. With a gift of £15 per month - just 50p a day - you can help a child living in poverty and build a more secure future for a whole community.Become an ActionAid child sponsor today!

ActionAid child sponsor Sally Whitaker has sponsored Reena in India for 8 years. Sally's support has helped bring essentials to Reena's village, as well as helping her get an education. Furthermore, child sponsorship also helped educate Reena's whole community about their rights. Sally and her daughter Phoebe recently decided to visit Reena and see for themselves how their sponsorship is helping Reena's family to escape a life of poverty.
ActionAid child sponsorship is the start of an incredible one-to-one relationship between you and child in the developing world.
