We've launched a campaign asking ASDA to pay a living wage to their factory workers in Asia.
It's based on our report ASDA: Poverty guaranteed - but even ASDA’s own surveys show that the workers who make its clothes aren't paid enough to feed, clothe or educate their families properly.
>> The Asia Floor wage
Because we don't want ASDA to move just their business to a different, cheap country, ActionAid is part of an inspiring coalition called the Asia Floor Wage.
The Asia Floor wage is an Asian campaign that demands a living wage for all clothing workers across the Asia continent. By uniting across borders, workers are challenging the power of giant retailers so they don't just leave areas where a living wage is enforced.
>> How is the Asia Floor Wage calculated?
The Asia Floor Wage is enough to cover a worker’s basic needs for things like food, healthcare and education. Obviously prices vary depending on country, so the actual AFW level is different in each country, but it buys the same amount of goods and services.
