Lostprophets and Marina and the Diamonds bring ActionAid's hunger campaign to the Reading festival

25 August 2010

ActionAid youth wing Bollocks to Poverty are hitting the Reading Festival this summer, putting hunger in the headlines with support from Marina and the Diamonds, Lostprophets and tens of thousands of festivalgoers.

Ultimate festival playlists

Lostprophets’ keyboard player Jamie Oliver (above, far right) has donated his exclusive playlist of festival classics. From Livin' On A Prayer by Bon Jovi to Warrior’s Dance by The Prodigy he’s appealing to Reading music lovers to back the campaign and get on board. He says:

"For a species that considers itself intelligent, letting billions go hungry is plain stupid! Enough of the bollocks; address the basics - be smart and speak out against hunger!"

MarinaMarina and The Diamonds (right) has also given us her ultimate list of festival tunes, including Coral Fang by The Distillers and the classic Heart-Shaped Box by Nirvana. She says:

"It's unacceptable that in this country we can get food 24/7 while millions are still starving. Say Bollocks to Poverty and let’s cut hunger in half by 2015."

This is ActionAid's ninth year at the festival. The Bollocks to Poverty tent will feature games, DJS until 3am and a unique collaboration with NME that allows festival-goers the chance to be part of their own festival headline.
