Last night a hundred of London's most dedicated wine buffs joined celebrity stars Clive Anderson, Michael Buerk, Brian Cox, Lucy Porter and Andy Parsons for a remarkable night of lies, deception and superb wine. ActionAid's gala event Call My Wine Bluff raised over £120,000 for projects all over the world (the final figure will be announced later this week).
In this high-spirited take on the classic TV game-show, four celebrity panelists try to dupe guests and each other into believing a fictional story behind the wine being tasted - the tales ranged from tall to ridiculous.
There were some amazingly generous gestures on the night, including a single auction bid of £20,000 for a stay at glastonbury's luxury Camp Kerala.
ActionAid Head of Communications Sue Bishop said:
"It's such a fantastic night out, not just because of the wine and good humour, but because everyone comes together to change the world. We really made a difference tonight."
