Burundi: improving the quality of life for women and children living with HIV and AIDS

Fact: only 40% of people living with HIV and AIDS in Burundi have access to anti-retroviral treatment; for many, a lack of adequate food and nutrition means the illness develops faster.

Aim: to transform the lives of 50 women and 100 children living with HIV and AIDS in Ruyigi province by providing medical and nutritional support.

What you can do:

  • £3 could provide a counselling session to someone living with HIV and AIDS
  • £6 could pay for an HIV test for a woman and her child, or provide a week’s worth of nutritious food
  • £26 could buy a kit containing food and essential household items for one family affected by HIV and AIDS
  • £130 could provide a week’s supply of high-nutrition food for 100 HIV and AIDS patients in hospital
  • £550 could provide medicine to 50 patients with HIV and AID
