Footsteps of the Maasai trek, September 2008

This fantastic challenge involves trekking with the vibrant Maasai tribesmen in the foothills of the 8,500 ft Mount Longido, offering the stunning scenery of the crater highlands.

"I've met some of the people who benefit from ActionAid's help. I've talked with them, and I've even "gossiped" with the Maasai. They are definitely my brothers and sisters, and they definitely need our help!" Mark Satterthwaite, Footsteps of the Maasai Trek, 2006

One of the many highlights of this trek will be seeing ActionAid's education and water projects in the Maasai village of Narok, Kenya. We visit this remote region of Kenya to learn from the Maasai people about the issues they face on a daily basis, and how ActionAid works with them to provide support to bring about long-term change - an eye-opening and exhilarating experience.

Safety of our participants is paramount. Should the instability in Kenya continue, this trek will not include the visit to Kenya, and instead will revert directly to Tanzania. The trek itinerary will remain unchanged.
