Broadcaster Lisa I'Anson is one of the eight celebrities to enter the Celebrity Big Brother house.
The popular Channel 4 show, Celebrity Big Brother, is being done in aid of charity. With each 50p phone vote, 16p will go to charities chosen by the housemates. Lisa has asked that her share of the money raised go to ActionAid. Proceeds from the show will also go to the DEC Tsunami Earthquake Appeal.
Last year Lisa I’Anson returned to Ghana, her mother’s homeland, to see the ActionAid’s work. She spent four days visiting projects and communities in the Northern and Upper West Regions of the country to see how the charity tackles the root causes of poverty particularly in relation to children.
Lisa sponsors a child in Ghana and as part of her trip she travelled to the remote community of Tampaala where, for the first time, she got the chance to meet her sponsored child 8 year old Kan-Iwula and her family and to see exactly how her sponsorship money was being spent. Lisa decided to sponsor a child through ActionAid when she had her second child Deia, who is now 2 years old. Realising how lucky her daughter would be she wanted to be able to make a difference to the life of a child who may not be as fortunate.
After establishing herself as a presenter on Kiss FM and MTV, Lisa I'Anson moved on to Radio 1 where she presented a daily show. Since then her work has covered music, entertainment, celebrity chats, arts and current affairs. Aside from radio, Lisa has also hosted The Vibe, Top Of The Pops and the MOBO awards.
