“We are a poor family that cannot afford the water transported in from distant water sources. We used the highly polluted water from a nearby open well and diarrhoea was common among families like ours. Thankfully the roof catchment system was made at our house. We contributed our labour to dig the pit for the reservoir. Agreement was made with me to sell the water at an affordable price. When the rainwater is emptied, tankers use it as a container from where we get soft water throughout the year.”
