Happy International Women's Day everyone!

To kick off the IWD activities our friends over at EQUALS are launching an awesome competition to make your own debate starter film - open to 16 – 25 year olds.

The winner of the best film will get the amazing prize of a Canon 1100D camera AND they will use your film in the EQUALS IWD campaign in 2014!

2012's debate starter videos got up to 100k+ views and more so this is a massive opportunity for budding film makers to get great exposure.

Choose your issue

Why do so many women hate their bodies so much? Do men still get a better pay deal than women? Is it more risky to be a woman in a warzone than a soldier? Do lad’s mags encourage sexual violence? Do women do more
housework than men? Are women who take their clothes off for money empowered or exploited?

Are we EQUALS?

Join the debate by making a two minute film about whatever it is you want to say about gender inequality. Your film should be designed to get people talking, so no lectures, lists of facts or a long history of feminism please. Just your opinions, or those of your friends or even people on the street.

It could be something that affects you every day in the UK, or a global subject that you think more people shouldbe thinking about. We have come a long way since the first International Women’s Day in 1911 – women can vote, go to university, run the country and split their maternity leave equally with their partner if they choose to. But for many women, sexism, discrimination and gender based violence is still a reality.

Videos will be judged on their creativity and ability to get people talking.

The final five will then go to a public vote on Facebook and YouTube.
