Donations given to the Ready for Anything appeal between 4th Feb and 3rd May were doubled by the UK government as part of its AidMatch scheme, allowing every contribution to help twice as many people.
Through this appeal ActionAid raised £1,361,149 before being doubled by the UK government, which equates to £2,722,298.
Over 300 million people are affected by natural disasters every year.
When a disaster hits lives are at risk, communities are wiped out and families lose everything.
Every £1 given will ensure the world’s poorest people are Ready for Anything.
The extra money being given by the UK government will go towards disaster preparedness programmes across countries including Malawi, Burma (Myanmar), Afghanistan and Nepal, helping thousands of the world’s poorest people prepare to survive the next disaster.
**Our Ready for Anything appeal has now finished, but any donation to ActionAid is still hugely valuable; helping us transform the lives of the poorest and most vulnerable people in the world.**
Your donations will support people like Mukta, Waglaine and Steven.

Mukta, 9, Bangladesh
With the support of ActionAid, Mukta's community built embankments to defend against the floodwaters. Mukta’s mother Shofikun is one of the 25 women who have been part of the ActionAid trainings on how to improve rice yields, rear animals and cultivate their own kitchen gardens.
“You get pains in your stomach if you can’t eat. Now we can eat – so, I don’t feel that pain," says Mukta.

Waglaine, 13, St Jude, Haiti
Three years after the devastating earthquake it Haiti, school children like Waglaine attend an earthquake-resistant school built by ActionAid.
"This school is nicer than the one we had," she says. "The classrooms are bigger and there is a lot of light. The school yard is secure and there is room for us to play. The bathrooms are clean.
"Every time I look at the school I feel I will be able to finish my primary school years".

Steven Fatchi,11, Nsanje District, Malawi
Climate change is stopping many pupils attending school in Malawi. Floods in Nsanje are becoming more frequent and severe, damaging school buildings, destroying roads and bridges and washing away crops. Steven would like to go to secondary school so he can become a doctor.
ActionAid is helping four primary schools, including Steven’s, adapt to the changing climate by strengthening school buildings, providing students with reliable food and water supplies and helping them and their families learning about Malawi’s changing climate so they can protect themselves for the future.
