Britain’s latest festival - Nova Festival of Arts & Music launches in July featuring groundbreaking and exclusive collaborations from the worlds of music, visual art, theatre and film - and ActionAid will be there to join them.
Punters can expect everything from lakes, live music, dancing, theatre and comedy to creative workshops, performance artists, a woodland Victorian pub, camping and a casino. And with just a 5,000 capacity, this idyllic festival will be set in the stunning West Sussex countryside estate at Bignor Park in Pulborough.
ActionAid have teamed up with many of the most influential and respected artists to be a part of Doug Fishbone’s Adventureland Golf, whilst on-site at Nova. The country’s first bespoke fine art mini golf course has been compiled by a team of innovative and best-loved British artists to create a unique interactive experience. Artists participating include David Shrigley, Jake Chapman, Brian Griffiths, Gary Webb, Zatorski and Zatorski, and Pete Fowler.
The project will be raising funds to help ActionAid’s reconstruction efforts in Haiti, following the devastating earthquake in Haiti. When the earthquake struck, more than 220,000 people died and a further 300,000 were left injured. 300,000 houses were damaged or destroyed, leaving 1.5 million people homeless.
ActionAid was quick to respond, providing life-saving support – food, water and shelter materials – to tens of thousands of people in camps in and around the capital, Port-au-Prince. Two years later and ActionAid is still there, fighting to help those still homeless to access their rights to land and housing, and to demand accountability from their government on where aid money has been spent.
Nova Festival takes place from Thursday 5th – Sunday 8th July, 2012. To find out more or buy tickets www.novafestival.co.uk. If you’re interested in helping volunteer at Nova with ActionAid please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
