With less than two months until kick off, World Cup fever is mounting. The BBC reports today that thousands of South Africans queued overnight to buy 500,000 World Cup tickets.
ActionAid is part of the 1GOAL campaign which is trying to harness a little of that enthusiasm to help get millions of children into school.
As part of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), all children are supposed to get primary education by 2015. But with only five years left to go, there are still 72 million children missing out on going to school.
1GOAL, which is backed by FIFA and leading footballers, wants to get 30 million signatures from football fans in the run up to and during the World Cup to make sure world leaders do everything they can to get every child going to school. You can sign up to 1GOAL here.
