Having organised a number of events for various societies during my time at university, ActionAid’s summer blog party is by far the most exciting I’ve ever been involved with!
On 15 August we're hosting a fun afternoon packed with guest speakers and activities. We’ll be raising awareness of our work with children around the world – especially our new child sponsorship programme in Myanmar (formerly known as Burma).
Having been fortunate enough to visit the Shan states of Myanmar and talk to locals themselves, I am very excited to hear about guest speaker Alex Graham’s experience of visiting Myanmar to see ActionAid’s work; I imagine it to be as exciting and adventurous as mine.
I’m also very excited to hear from two of ActionAid’s dedicated supporters Penny (aresidence.co.uk) and Gemma (helloitsgemma.wordpress.com) who will be talking about the best ways to get involved with ActionAid.
And that's not all. Whereas most venues fail to provide entertainment for kids, we've searched far and wide (only to find that it was just up the road!) for the perfect venue that is suitable for both adults and children.
Whilst us adults will be mingling upstairs in the trendy attic of Body & Soul, the kids will be occupied in the children’s centre (see image below) participating in some very special and exciting activities we’ve planned.
We'll also have expert advice from celebrity blogger Jimi Mistry and ActionAid’s digital producer Louise, who will providing tips on how to make the most out of blogging and social media.
So whether you’re a parent, a blogger or (like me) a social media addict, ActionAid’s summer blog party is guaranteed to be both useful and fun.
There are still a few spaces available so don’t forget to register online! I look forward to putting faces to emails and seeing you all there :)
