Olympic fever is in the air, so this seems like an appropriate moment to recall my time in Ethiopia with Olympic legend Sally Gunnell last November.
Sally accompanied ActionAid to Addis Ababa to take part in the Great Ethiopian Run with us – the world’s toughest 10K race, run at a height of over 2,000m above sea level, with thousands of people all in the same brightly-coloured T-shirts taking over the city for the day.
She spent the rest of the time visiting ActionAid projects around the city, taking in a school and a health centre funded by ActionAid to see the difference we make first hand, and meeting women who have been able, thanks to our work, to set up their own small businesses and look forward to a prosperous future.
When she got back to the UK, Sally talked to places like The Independent and Zest magazine about her time with us, and we also made the fantastic video above of her trip, so take a look at our very own Olympian ActionAider in action!
