Time to make one more New Year’s resolution

For those who didn’t quite get round to joining the gym or starting that post-Christmas diet international development charity ActionAid is offering the chance to make one more resolution now that the Chinese New Year has just begun. Why not embark on the challenge of a lifetime trek across the ancient land of China and raise vital funds to help fight poverty.

Action China, which takes place between the 4th and 13th of October 2003, is an opportunity to visit some of the country’s most beautiful and fascinating sights. Trekkers can discover the secret riches of the Forbidden City, wander through magnificent wooded valleys and river gorges, enjoy the busy cities and the tranquil countryside and conquer the Great Wall – China’s most prominent attraction.

There will also be a unique opportunity to gain an insight into ActionAid’s work in China and find out about how the funds raised can make a real difference to the lives of people fighting their way out of poverty.

Commenting on last year’s trek Celia Batten, an Estate Agent from Dorset, said: "A fantastic personal fitness challenge, a great bunch of people, so much fun my sides ached, awe inspiring scenery and such a good feeling to raise funds for such a good cause."

"It’s not too late to set yourself a challenge for the year. Action China is a hugely rewarding experience for all involved. It’s an excellent way of raising much needed money for our work in the developing world as well as experiencing this amazing country and making a great new group of friends,” says Simon Molloy, ActionAid’s Head of Community Fundraising.
