Last year the Global Campaign for Education (of which ActionAid is a member) ran a competition to find two young ambassadors to raise awareness of the need to provide every child with a full primary education by the year 2015.
The winners of that competition are the fantastic Navdeep and Yasir from Seven Kings School in Essex, who submitted this video as their competition entry.
I met Navdeep and Yasir yesterday, along with some other entrants to the competition, and was blown away by their understanding of what is a pretty complex issue, and how they speak so passionately and articulately about the need for education for all.
Nav and Yas recently got back from a trip to Guatemala with Toybox, a co-member of the GCE, to explore barriers to education out there. They kept a diary of their trip and made the above short film.
The next steps for our Young Ambassadors is to raise awareness of the need for education for all amongst other schools and young people in the UK, and encourage them to take part in the Send My Sister to School campaign.
