Geography teachers teaching about Human Development may want to note that UNESCO has just published its ‘World Atlas of Gender Equality in Education’.
The Atlas is full of maps showing various indicators relating to global access to education, in particular the differing levels of access to education experienced by girls and boys.
You’ll find world maps showing, among others:
- Compulsory education laws & how many years in education is required
- The percentage of government spending on education
- Gender parity at either primary or secondary level, or both
- Enrolment trends
- Drop out rates
Whether studied in full or dipped into, the Atlas is a useful resource for looking at human development indicators across the world.
