Uganda after Kony

Children in their new school in Giriki, Uganda

Your learners may have come across recent discussion on social networks about Joseph Kony, the leader of the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA), and Uganda.

We have put together two KS3/4 teaching resources to help you and your learners explore some of the issues around Uganda and the LRA:

1) Uganda after Kony

This resource investigates the impact of decades of violent conflict on people’s lives in Giriki, eastern Uganda, and how people there are rebuilding their lives.

2) Debating ‘Kony2012’

The ‘Kony2012’ film, made by the charity Invisible Children, went viral in late February and has now been viewed over 85 million times – your learners may have seen it and be talking about it in school.

This resource helps learners explore and debate some of the issues raised by the controversial film.
