Access denied: a Eurostep briefing paper on gender and education

An examination of some of the macro-economic and immediate causes of gender inequality in education and highlights some of the strategies that donors have identified to address them. Paying particular attention to European Union policy and European Commission practice in gender and education, it makes recommendations for mainstreaming gender more effectively in EC aid to education policy.
