Cycle London-Paris itinerary
Kick off your journey through south-east London, making your way through the Sussex countryside towards Brighton and then finishing your day with a ferry trip from Newhaven across to Dieppe with your fellow cyclists.
Head along the Avenue Verte cycle track in the morning towards Forges-les-Eaux, after finishing breakfast you’ll pass through French villages and towns as you make your way to Beauvais.
Today is the last push as you make your way to Paris, where you’ll be rewarded with views of the Champs Élysées, finishing the ride at the Trocadero.
How your London–Paris cycle sponsorship money could help women and girls living in poverty
Harriet, 14, lives in a village in Upper West, northern Ghana.
Before she got a bike from ActionAid, school was a three hour walk away. She would often have to get up in the dark to start the walk. She would arrive at school really tired before the day had begun. And the journey there and back was dangerous and frightening.
Harriet used to worry about men chasing her into the bush — especially in rainy season, when men often hide in the long grass and jump out and kidnap girls as they walk past — this has happened to friends of hers. Abducting teenage girls and forcing them into marriage is not uncommon in this region of northern Ghana, which is one of the most deprived in the country.
But now Harriet has her bike, she can arrive on time for school and not in fear of abduction.
The sponsorship money you raise from your cycling adventure could help buy more bikes in Ghana to help girls like Harriet get to school safely.
