Director of Fundraising

Could you drive the strategic development, growth and delivery of our fundraising function, enabling us to raise more funds and campaign effectively for long-term change to fight poverty, gender inequality and social injustice?

We are seeking a truly dynamic and innovative Director of Fundraising to drive the strategic development, growth and delivery of the public fundraising function in the UK, to enable the achievement of our ambitious voluntary fundraising targets that are consistent with our mission, identity and programme priorities  .

You will act as an organisational leader and role model, providing strong and visionary leadership in the development and implementation of our overall strategy, acting as an advocate for the organisation.  You will also develop, diversify and modernise our fundraising portfolio  and play an active role in building the external profile of ActionAid UK as an organisation focused on the rights of women and girls.

This role is responsible for developing and leading an ambitious fundraising strategy that delivers growth in our net income from individual supporters, major donors, trusts, foundations and corporates, in line with our overall strategy and targets, providing strategic insight into trends and developments in the external environment related to public fundraising including regulations and compliance issues. 

You will ensure a relevant, inspiring and impactful programme of work is delivered that builds high levels of supporter and donor engagement, ensuring that we deliver on our accountability and maintaining regular communications with them.  You will encourage and support new investments for innovative approaches to public fundraising in UK and overseas markets where appropriate.

This role will also lead on public fundraising for humanitarian crises working in collaboration with other specialists from across the organisation to ensure an agile and aligned response.

The ideal candidate will have a strong and successful track record of delivering and diversifying fundraising in a senior fundraising role, ideally in international development, with a strong understanding of and commitment to human rights based approaches and rights of women and girls.  You will also be an effective and inspiring leader who can drive a highly dedicated and professional team to succeed.  Critical to your success will be your innovative and inspiring approach, and your ability to be strategically focused and self-motivated.  Previous experience of building growth in philanthropy and partnerships, including corporate engagement is also key. Knowledge and skills in digital fundraising will be highly desirable.
