Enrico Eminae, the man on the ground leading ActionAid’s response to the East Africa famine, has travelled to Manchester, Liverpool, Sheffield and Leeds to thank supporters in person for their generosity.
Enrico, 44, also shared a very personal story with supporters. Although he now works for ActionAid, as a boy he was an ActionAid sponsored child himself. Enrico may have started his life in poverty, but is now in a position to make a hands-on difference himself. He told supporters:
“If I hadn’t been sponsored by an English family as a child I wouldn’t have been able to go to school at all. When I graduated from university I wanted to use my education to improve the lives of the poor – just as others had done for me.”
Enrico will also be speaking in Chard, Somerset on Wednesday 12 October (call 01460 238 000 to book a place).
