Sokchea is a fisherwoman in Kampot, Cambodia. She relies on a daily catch to provide food and income for her family.
But her livelihood is under threat as increasing cycles of storms, floods and extreme weather make fishing perilous. Last time Sokchea went out to fish, her boat nearly capsized.
Without her daily catch, Sokchea is struggling to make ends meet. Some days she has to borrow money so her children don't go hungry.
But ActionAid is working round the clock to ensure women like Sokchea can survive by adapting their skills.
In Cambodia, we are helping women to switch from traditional livelihoods to climate-resilient businesses. For example, we train women in innovative methods of growing crops on boats, replanting mangroves and building community fishing ponds.
By donating to ActionAid, you could help us support women and girls around the world with seeds, tools and training so that women can turn their lives around.
Please give today.
Right now, every donation will be matched pound for pound by the UK Government until 4 June, meaning our work could go twice as far.
Stand with women and girls like Ritah by giving a regular gift.
For every £1 we spend:
70p is spent on humanitarian and development programmes and strengthening our global federation
17p is spent on fundraising
10p is spent on support costs (running the organisation)
3p is spent on campaigning for change
These figures are taken from our expenditure in 2019.
We’re committed to keeping our supporters happy and being open and honest about how we fundraise. To find out more you can read our supporter promise.
If you’d prefer to donate by post, make out a cheque payable to ActionAid UK, and send it to:
