What’s in this workshop?
This ActionAid workshop introduces the tribal village of Chembakolli in the Nilgiri Hills of southern India and helps pupils explore how life has changed for the community that lives there. The session will bring to life the similarities and differences between life in rural India and the UK, and pupils will:
- Discover how villagers have stood up for their rights to own the land on which they live
- Investigate daily life in Chembakolli through tools and toys made and used in the village
- Learn about about the food people eat and the healthy foods the school children in Chembakolli are growing sustainably
