Zambia First Hand Experience for Turner Broadcasting

Volunteer with us in Zambia

15 — 23 June 2018

Volunteer with us to help build a classroom block for children in the Western Province of Zambia. A new classroom will mean pre-school children can go to school, start learning, and get the best possible start in life. This promises to be a life-changing experience for you and for the local community.

Registration fee: £695 (£340 payable at registration)
Minimum fundraising amount: £1,299

What will I be doing?

You’ll be working alongside local people to build the classroom. You don’t need any building experience to take part — just enthusiasm, motivation and the desire to muck in and help!

Building on site

You could be digging foundations, clearing land or mixing concrete. Don’t worry, you don’t need any building experience to take part.

Kenyan cuisine

Zambian cuisine is simple and wholesome, with plenty of stews and soups, and also some Indian influences. We can cater for all dietary requirements.

Making friends

Making friends

Whether you sign up on your own or with a friend, you’ll meet lots of amazing people, both from Turner and the local Zambian community!

Visiting ActionAid projects

Visiting other ActionAid projects

During the week you will have the opportunity to visit another nearby project, to gain a broader insight into our work in Zambia.

The group will be at a luxury camp at the school grounds in which you will be working. You will share a twin tent with bed frames, mattresses and solar lighting. You will stay in a 3* hotel for 2 nights in Livingstone.

Local culture

There will be the opportunity to experience traditional Zambian culture at the welcome ceremony, on the project visit and on a sight-seeing tour to Victoria Falls.
