Two women by the river

Arrange a funeral collection

If you are arranging a funeral or memorial at present, please accept our sincere sympathies. It takes a very special kind of person to think of others at such a difficult time, and we hope you have all the love and support you need around you.

We’re sorry we can’t soften your loss but we will do everything we can to help you commemorate your loved in the way they would have wanted.

Asking for donations in lieu of flowers

In recent years it’s become accepted and popular for families to ask for donations to their loved one’s favourite charity instead of floral arrangements. By joining together to support a good cause, friends and relatives can feel closer to one another and the person they’re saying “goodbye” to.

If you’d like ask friends and family for donations, here are a few different options you like to consider.

Collection envelopes

For those attending the service in person, we can provide collection envelopes that can be handed out or placed on seats. Donations can be made anonymously or the contact details form can be completed if the donor would like us to send an acknowledgment or claim Gift Aid on their tribute.

These envelopes can be sent directly to us, or you can ask your funeral director to help manage the collection and liaise with us on your behalf.

To request collection envelopes please fill in the form below or email us at UK.inmemory@actionaid.org. We’d be honoured to learn more about your loved one and remember them with you.

Paying in your collection by post

If you’re posting your collection to us, we’d be very grateful if you could please include a note containing the following information. This will help us ensure your tribute is added to the right collection and we can thank you for your kind contribution.

  • Your loved one’s name

  • Their relationship to you

  • Your details (name and address, please)

  • If you’re not the next of kin and would like us to write to someone else – either to let them know of your donation or the total amount collected - please also tell us their name and address and what you would like us to share with them.

Please send letters and cheques to: The In Memory Team, ActionAid, Chard Business Park, Jarman Way, Chard, TA20 1FB.

We respectfully ask that you DON'T send cash through the post, as we can’t guarantee its safe receipt.

Paying a collection online

You may also find it convenient to pay in your collection online using this form.

Online funeral collections

An online collection can be a good alternative or addition to an in-person one. For those unable to attend the service or donate on the day, making a donation online is a convenient way to pay their respects and let you know they care.

We hope to introduce our own Action Aid Love in Action Fund soon but, in the meantime, you may find the following platforms helpful.

JustGiving

If you’re already familiar with JustGiving, and even if you’re not, creating a JustGiving memorial page is a straightforward way to share an online space with others and collect donations online. You can set an end date for your memorial or opt to keep it open in perpetuity and revisit it whenever you wish.

Create a Love In Action Tribute Fund

You can set up a Love In Action Tribute Fund using MuchLoved. MuchLoved is a online memorial platform that’s used by many funeral directors. A tribute page is a wonderful way to remember your loved one and collect donations online. You can create an online space, sharing special photos, messages and share this with family and friends.
