With a passion for agriculture, Elizabeth cultivated vegetables on her farm, contributing not only to her sustenance but also to the local market. Her connection to the land was a testament to the resilience embedded in her spirit.

Why run for ActionAid?
In the rural community of Komolion in Baringo County, climate change has made farming increasingly unpredictable. Prolonged droughts, rising temperatures and degraded land have left many families struggling to grow food and earn an income.
Elizabeth Lokipunar, a farmer, mother of six and grandmother of four, has felt these impacts deeply. After four years of drought, her crops failed and food became scarce.
Through support from ActionAid, Elizabeth joined women’s collectives and received training in agroecology, including specialist learning in Naivasha. She now applies climate-resilient farming techniques that help conserve soil, protect biodiversity and improve harvests.
We gained a lot of knowledge in agroecology that we have adopted here."
With this support, Elizabeth and other women are strengthening their livelihoods, feeding their families and building resilience against future climate shocks—while leading local solutions to the climate crisis.
