Join our Run for Rights challenge and get pupils to run as many laps as they can in 16 minutes for the 16 million young girls missing out on school. 

In some countries, girls are far more likely to miss out on life-changing education than boys. This is because discrimination, disasters, poverty and a lack of safety make it impossible. But getting an education supports girls to shape their own futures and live healthier lives. 

It’s time to step up, lace up, and ask family and friends to make a donation so ActionAid can make sure more girls get the education that is their right.

  • A teacher toolkit to help with everything you need to set up Run for Rights easily in your school
  • A girls' education resource information sheet to share the impact you're making through Run for Rights
  • Posters, stickers and more to help promote the event at school and ActionAid's team on hand with fundraising advice and tips.

Girls' rights to an education in Zimbabwe

Pearl, 16, is head girl at her school in rural Zimbabwe. Chronic underfunding and the impacts of climate change are making it difficult for her and her fellow classmates to receive a proper education.

I want to become a pharmacist when I'm older. But there are problems at our school. The entire form has to share two text books, and we even struggle to find chairs to use. Many girls also have to travel long distances to get to school. We do not have a school bus, so these girls are incredibly vulnerable."

Funding is needed to help Pearl and girls like her realise their dreams. By taking part in Run for Rights, you can help girls around the world look towards a brighter future by supporting their education.
