Why trek for ActionAid
Tagesech is a return migrant worker from the Middle East and a beneficiary of ActionAid Ethiopia’s business skills training and seed grant. After returning home to Soro woreda, SNNPR, she sought ways to support her family and build a sustainable livelihood.
With the skills and support she received from ActionAid, Tagesech started a corn-selling business. She also invested in a donkey, which she uses to transport her corn to the market, making her work more efficient and manageable.
Her husband, Dana Garkebo, and their children—Eyob, Yabetse, Mihiret, Dilamo, and Selam stand by her side, benefiting from the improved family income and stability.
Tagesech’s story highlights how business training and small grants can empower return migrant women to create income-generating activities, provide for their families, and regain independence. Programs like these give women the tools and confidence to transform challenges into opportunities.
Your fundraising helps women like Tagesech access training, start businesses, and gain the tools and confidence to support their families and build sustainable livelihoods.
