Phoebe Dynevor star of Netflix’s ‘Bridgerton‘ joins ActionAid UK as an Ambassador.

Actress and star of Bridgerton Phoebe Dynevor has been appointed as the newest ambassador for the international charity ActionAid UK.  A long-term supporter and strong advocate for women’s rights, Phoebe will work with the organisation to help raise awareness of its work with women and girls living in poverty.

Phoebe has been supporting ActionAid since she was a child, and in 2007 she travelled to India with the charity to meet the girl she and her family were sponsoring at the time. Her new role is being announced as she fronts the charity’s latest fundraising campaign which highlights how women and girls are disproportionately impacted by climate change.

ActionAid’s “She is the answer” campaign is supporting women and girls on the frontline of the climate crisis in Cambodia, a country that’s especially at risk from flooding, storms and rising sea levels. Funds raised through this important appeal will help communities in Cambodia build resilience and adapt to the realities of climate change, and ensure that women and girls are empowered to play a central role. During the campaign, all donations from the British public will be matched by the UK Government pound for pound.

Explaining why she’s taking on this role as the charity’s newest celebrity ambassador, Phoebe said:

“ActionAid is a charity that has been very close to my heart for such a long time, particularly after my trip with them to India.  I remember everything about that trip; the people I met, the places we visited and, of course, seeing the difference ActionAid was making to the lives of so many women and girls.

“It is such an honour to be named an ambassador for ActionAid UK. Helping them to bring awareness to the daily injustice and suffering of women and girls around the world, to support their campaigns and work for positive change is something I am very excited and proud to be a part of.”

John Good, Interim CEO of ActionAid UK, said:

“We are thrilled to have Phoebe on board as an ambassador. In the time she has been supporting us she has shown a real commitment to raising awareness of our work and has seen first-hand the transformative, life-changing impact of our programmes.

“It’s wonderful that Phoebe will be using her voice and her platform to shine a spotlight on the important issues facing women and girls living in poverty. With her help, we can do more to support women and girls around their world break free from the cycle of poverty, inequality and abuse – and create the futures they want.”

ActionAid’s UK Aid Match campaign “She is the answer” is running from 5 March  until 4 June. Find out more about how you can support this campaign and women’s leadership.
