SMS terms and conditions

Thank you for considering donating to ActionAid by SMS (text). All donations that we receive help our work with poor and excluded women and girls across the world. Find out more about how much funding we receive from your texts, as well as how your phone number is used.

SMS consent

By using this service, you agree that we may contact you in the future. 

If you’d like to change how you hear from us, you can email us at supportercontact@actionaid.org or give us a call on +44 (0) 1460 238 000 (Monday-Friday, 9am-5.30pm). 

Data obtained from you via SMS service may include your mobile number, your carrier's name and the date, the time and content of your messages and other information that you may provide.

Monthly mobile donations

If you choose to support ActionAid with a regular gift through your mobile, you'll be part of monthly subscription service where you will receive a free monthly SMS from ActionAid the day before your gift is due.

When you sign up to give regularly through your mobile, you’ll need to reply to the first message that we send you to activate your gift. Once you have responded to this text, your gift will be activated and your first donation of £3 or £5 will be either added to your phone bill or taken immediately from your pay-as-you-go credit. You’ll be charged £3 or £5 plus one standard rate text message in the first month. 

Every month, if you're happy to give you don't need to do anything and you'll be charged £3 or £5. We will receive 100% of your donation. 

Skipping a donation

If you’d like to skip a month, simply text SKIP to 70002 for £3 gifts, and SKIP to 70088 for £5 gifts. You’ll be charged one standard rate text message. If your phone is out of range or switched off, you don't need to worry. We'll only take your gift 24 hours after we know that your phone has received our message. 

How you’re helping

We want you to see how your gifts are helping, so we’ll sometimes send you links to photos and videos on our website. You can view this content on an internet-enabled phone or computer. We won't charge you for content but, as with any mobile browsing, viewing could mean you incur charges from your network provider. 

Ending your gift

If you’d like to stop your gift at any point, please text STOP to the five digit shortcode that you receive your monthly messages from. You’ll be charged one standard rate text message. By texting STOP this means you will no longer receive any future monthly SMS from ActionAid UK. 

How much of my money reaches ActionAid?

If you have sent a text to make a £3 donation, texts will be charged at £3 plus one message at your standard network rate; the charge will show on your bill and the sender will show as a five-digit number, not ActionAid. 100% of your donation will go to ActionAid.

If you have sent a text to make a £5 donation, texts will be charged at £5 plus one message at your standard network rate; the charge will show on your bill and the sender will show as a five digit number, not ActionAid. 100% of your donation will go to ActionAid.

All supporters must obtain permission from the bill payer before sending a text message. If you are under 16 years old, you must have your parent or guardian's permission before signing up to our campaigns.

This SMS service is provided for ActionAid by a third party provider.

ActionAid will not be liable for delays or failures in receipt of any SMS messages, as delivery is subject to transmission from your network operator and processing by your mobile phone device.
