Meet Anifa
Anifa is from Mozambique. She is boldy challenging social expectations and has trained as a metalworker, a role almost exclusively held by men in her region.
Travelling over an hour each day to reach the vocational training facility, she was one of only six women in a class of 30.
Anifa is ‘going the distance’ every single day. Not only in the long journey she makes to her training, but in the courage it takes to step into a male-dominated workshop and claim her space.
After completing the three-month course, she learned to craft gates, chairs, and beds, and now works in her family’s workshop.
By taking part in Go the Distance and fundraising, you can help women around the world break into roles once deemed “not for them,” so more women like Anifa can build skills, earn a living, and lead change in their communities.
