How your sponsorship money helps

Meet Sienglee and her mother, Hok. Sienglee's family are rice farmers and in recent years they have been feeling the harsh effects of climate change more and more strongly.

Sienglee has big ambitions- she loves studying and wants to be a doctor when she grows up. But her education is often interrupted by natural disasters and her community's way of life is under threat from the worsening impacts of the climate crisis.

Hok is helping to change that. With the help of ActionAid, Hok has trained to be a Woman Champion - gaining the skills, knowledge and confidence to take a leadership role in helping her village adapt and protect itself from climate change.

Here are some ways your fundraising for Go the Distance could make a difference to women and girls like Hok and Sienglee:

£98 can buy a solar-powered pumping machine for a household, providing them with a dependable water source for farming.

£150 could pay for seeds, tools and 'green skills' training, enabling farmers to grow sustainable, drought-resistant crops.

£230 could plant 1000 mangrove trees in a coastal area, protecting communities from future floods and soil erosion as well as supporting fishing livelihoods.
