"I am so thankful for the knowledge I gained."

Abebech has been helped by ActionAid’s Combating Modern Slavery project in Ethiopia.

The project equips the victims of modern slavery, vulnerable women and returning migrants with life skills and business training. Abebech also received seed money of 8,000 Birr (roughly £39) to help her start a business. Now she’s growing plants and raising chickens to earn a living.

“I was so grateful to receive the training”, Abebech told us.  “More than the seed money I received, I am so thankful for the knowledge I gained. Knowledge about starting a business, growing a business, saving, and spending… all these things helped me so much in what I do. I’m just so thankful”.

Abebech is one of the beneficiaries of Action Aid’s Combating Modern Slavery project, that is implemented to prevent, identify and address modern slavery, and to protect and monitor vulnerable groups and victims of modern slavery.
